benchmark energy

Blue Ocean Energy Management offers benchmark energy services to help building owners meet city compliance with the Environmental Sustainability Buildings Benchmarking in Montgomery County, Maryland.

The Environmental Sustainability Buildings Benchmarking legislation policy requires County and commercial building owners to benchmark energy use of non-residential buildings located in Montgomery County, MD using the EPA’s ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager. Data must be verified by a Recognized Data Verifier the first year of reporting and every three years thereafter. Affected properties must report data to the County annually for public disclosure.

The law initially required building 50,000 square feet or larger to benchmark, and has now been amended to require buildings 25,000 square feet or larger to benchmark to match the BPS, as well as cover additional building types like multifamily buildings.
